On the afternoon of 18th September, the Geography Group from the Junior High Department of Anqing Foreign Language School’s east campus organized a fierce jigsaw competition in terms of ‘the Administrative Region Line Drawing in China’. The contest aimed to check students’ familiarity degree towards China’s administrative division, elevate their operating abilities, stimulate their learning interest in geography in addition to cultivating their patriotic spirit.
To start with, the competition adopted the theme ‘Love for My China’. Then, students tried to find China’s administrative units in provincial level and rapidly& accurately drew the administrative map on the form board.
Furthermore, so as to guarantee the smooth implementation of this grand event, before the beginning of the new academic year, the Geography Group has already begun to conduct the event planning work to let students have sufficient time for training. In the meantime, in order to ensure the equity of the contest, the organizing committee adopted the on-site random draw mode and divided all candidates into three categories. After a fierce competition, the judges selected the first, second and third prizes respectively.
Overall, this jigsaw competition effectively aroused students’ enthusiasm in geography learning. Therefore, students expressed one after another that they fancied this fascinating event very much through which students could learn from games. To be precise, not only did this contest help students better remember China’s administrative regions, but also motivated their ardor to love the motherland and study hard as well.
